Phaselis: ancient city on the Mediterranean coast (Turkey)

In the province of Antalya not far from Kemer is the ancient coastal city of Phaselis, which is an important historic attraction of Turkey. If we are to believe the ancient Chronicles, the history of this Turkish city begins in the seventh century BC. That’s when it was founded by colonists from Rhodes in the head with Lamaison.

In the first century BC, this Mediterranean city was under the dominion of Rome. In this period there was considerable rebuilding and flourishing of the city, which lasted for three centuries.

In the fifth century of our era, Phaselis came under the influence of Vizani, from the seventh century there begin to dominate the Arabs. In the middle Ages the town is subjected to some pretty strong earthquakes, it gradually lost its importance as a seaport. These factors lead to the fact that in the thirteenth century left almost all the inhabitants.

Today to admire the beauty of the ancient town attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world, because these places give people the opportunity to touch the history of human civilization.
